The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) is the intergovernmental organisation responsible for improving animal health worldwide. The standards it develops for the trade of live animals and products of animal origin are recognised by the World Trade Organization as reference international sanitary rules (http://www.oie.int/en/). The OIE, previously known as the « Office international des épizooties », was created on 25 January 1924. Its headquarters are based in Paris. It comprises 182 Member Countries and is present on all continents through 12 Representations or Bureaus. The OIE also maintains permanent relations with over 70 international and regional organisations. The OIE is further developing its portfolio on laboratory sustainability with the objective to promote evidence-based laboratory biosafety and biosecurity, to foster strategic decision making for national laboratories’ resources, and to promote the implementation of OIE International Standards in the veterinary laboratory setting.

Job Description

Data Analyst (Data Analyste Technico-fonctionnel) – Sustainable Laboratories Team

OIE Headquarters in Paris, France

by 30 November at noon (Paris time) 2018

World Organisation for Animal Health is searching for a Data Analyst (Data Analyste Technico-fonctionnel) for Sustainable Laboratories Team.

Qualifications and Experience

• A university degree in data science, business analytics, statistics, economics, social sciences, technology or equivalent

• 5-10 years of working experience, with at least 3 years in data analysis and at least 2 years in a relevant domain of expertise

• Expertise in statistical languages, such as Python and/or R.


Additional experience (would be an asset)

• Working knowledge of data visualisation or business intelligence tools, such as Qlik, Power BI, and/or Tableau;

• Experience in cost benefit analysis methodology;

• Experience in database management system (DBMS) like Access, PostgreSQL or similar;

• Experience in project management.


Requirements

Technical skills


• Sound knowledge of statistical and data analysis methodologies and processes (cleaning diverse data sets, performing various analysis, interpreting quantitative data, and visualizing outputs);

• Experience clearly articulating and presenting quantitative findings with high impact;

• Ability to identify trends, to provide insight, and to offer expertise on how to achieve goals using data;

• Excellent command of English, both written and oral;

• Significant experience with the use of the Office pack, particularly advanced experience with Excel;

• Knowledge of another of the official languages of the OIE (French or Spanish).


Interpersonal skills

• Highly self-motivated and ability to work independently and advise team on needs and direction of analysis;

• Ability to communicate complex data and ideas to non-expert audiences;

• Interest in cross-sectoral solutions and curiosity to solve problems and improve systems;

• Flexible and dynamic personality;

• Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills;

• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team in an international environment.

Base salary at 2 800 € net/month, commensurate according to experience

Salary – totally or partially –exempt of French income tax
