| The FVE Board consists of a President, a treasurer
and three Vice Presidents. The President and its Board are elected
for two years and can be re-elected twice. The FVE Board meets several
times a year to discuss current issues and FVE's strategy. |

Stephen Ware has been since June 2007 Vice-President of the Brussels-based Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), the umbrella organisation of veterinary organisations from 35 European countries which represents the veterinary profession in Europe.
Mr Ware graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 1965. He has spent all of his working life as a veterinary practitioner in both large- and small-animal medicine and has now retired from his practice.
He has been actively involved in FVE and in the European Union of Veterinary Practitioners (UEVP) for 12 years.
In 1999 Mr Ware was elected Secretary General of UEVP for a two year mandate. He was then elected vice-president of UEVP for the period 2001-2005. He has also been Council Member of the British Veterinary Association.
He has been a council member of the Royal College of veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) from 1996 to date and was elected RCVS President for the period 2002-3. He is a member of the British Veterinary Association as well as an Honorary Member of the Society of Practising Veterinary Surgeons. He has been a delegate to the General Assembly of FVE on behalf of the RCVS from 2003 to date.
He chaired the UEVH Working Party on the Veterinary Act. His work at the RCVS has given him an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the work of a statutory body and regulatory matters and he has been actively involved in the developing work of the Statutory Bodies group within FVE.
He was elected Vice-President by the General Assembly of FVE in June 2007. The FVE board appointed him as Treasurer. In the board he is also responsible for Education issues concerning the European Coordinating Committee for Veterinary Training (ECCVT), the Joint Education Committee (JEC), Life Long Learning (LLL), and the Aknowledged vet. He is also in charge of matters concerning the Veterinary Liberal Profession like the Veterinary Act, Code of Conduct, Ethics, Competition and Selfregulation.
