Board of Directors 2007-2009
The FVE Board consists of a President, a treasurer and three Vice Presidents. The President and its Board are elected for two years and can be re-elected twice. The FVE Board meets several times a year to discuss current issues and FVE's strategy.
Margareta Widell - Vice-President

Margareta WidellMargareta Widell has been since June 2007 Vice-President of the Brussels-based Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), the umbrella organisation of veterinary organisations from 35 European countries which represents the veterinary profession in Europe.

Margareta Widell graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Veterinary College of Stockholm (Sweden) in 1972. Since then she has taken courses in the fields of epidemiology, artificial insemination, shigella and salmonella diagnostic, microbiology and microbiological water examinations, legal aspects of food control and suppervision, HACCP and other courses in connection with the Hgygiene Package. Besides these scientific courses, she has also participated the following courses: conversation develoment , group and leaderdevelopment, self-knowledge and existential leadership. In 2003 she obtained the specialist competence in Food Hygiene.

After graduation, she worked as a veterinary surgeon in the Faculty of veterinary medicine in Uppsala until 1980. On that same year she joined the National Food Administration in Uppsala as Veterinary Inspector and later as Head of Division where she worked from 1980 to 2002. She then worked as Vice-Managing Director at Intramedic AB until 2005. She has now joined the City of Stockholm as Deputy Head of Division in the Environment and Health Administration (Food Control Department) where she is responsible for supervising retail in shops and small restaurants.

Since 1995 Margareta Widell has been the swedish expert in UEVH (European Union of Veterinary Hygienists). In 1999 she was elected as vice-president of UEVH and in 2001 as UEVH President. In 2003 she was appointed member of an FVE interim board. In June 2007 she was elected by the General Assembly as FVE Board Member.

In the FVE Board she is responsible for Public Health matters concering the Food Hygiene, Public Health training, zoonosis, etc.
